The Q Grader Program is specialty coffee’s leading license for professionals, encompassing cupping, sensory analysis, and green coffee evaluation.
The Q Grader course curriculum prepares coffee professionals to demonstrate their ability to evaluate coffee by its physical, descriptive, affective, and extrinsic assessments. Graduates earn the globally respected Q Grader license, a mark of excellence recognized across the global coffee value chain.
The Brewing courses cover numerous brewing coffee methods as well as the brewing variables that affect quality. Hands on learning is emphasized with a focus on grind profiles, brewing methods, coffee strength measurements, and coffee extraction charting.
The updated Q Grader Program has been designed for experienced coffee professionals with a curriculum that tests their ability to detect differences and defects, describe sensory profiles, and apply the Coffee Value Assessment in real-world contexts. Participants will enhance their sensory acuity, ensuring they have the tools to evaluate and communicate coffee’s value clearly and confidently.
The result? A global network of modern Q Graders who share an understanding of quality that is aligned with the latest developments in sensory science and that reflects the diversity, ingenuity and continued evolution of the modern coffee industry.
Over six intensive days you’ll undergo rigorous training and assessment in cupping, sensory analysis, and green coffee evaluation. The updated curriculum is designed for experienced cuppers, and integrates the latest advancements in coffee science and industry best practices to build your sensory acuity and the ability to evaluate coffee.
Learners will test their skills in detecting differences and defects, describing sensory profiles, and applying Coffee Value Assessment (CVA) tools in real-world contexts. Graduates earn the globally respected Q Grader license—a mark of excellence recognized across the coffee value chain—and join a global network of roasters, importers, producers, and traders united by a shared understanding of quality that drives buying, selling, and assurance throughout the industry.

Simone Rubin is a certified Q Grader and head of Bristot Coffee Academy, an SCA Premier Training Campus certified academy, certification issued by SCA - Specialty Coffee Association - only to Academies that present the highest quality standards of coffee education worldwide. Furthermore, Simone Rubin collaborates with the ZHAW Zurich University of Applied Science in coffee excellence.
All written exams for the SCA are hosted online and distributed via email. SCA exam and certification fees are included in the cost for tickets and are optional for students who take class recreationally.
Once your booking is complete and payment is confirmed, we will begin preparing your class. This preparation requires time, effort, and materials to ensure everything is ready for your course experience.
Our courses have limited seats and often sell out, or they may require a minimum number of participants to proceed. Canceling a class could prevent other students from attending.
- You may reschedule your class at least 20 days before the start date.
- If you need to cancel, you may request a refund at least 20 days before the start date; however, a 20% fee will be deducted.
- Within 20 days of the class start date, rescheduling and cancellations are no longer possible.
- Rescheduling the class to a different date or a different class incurs a $50 fee.
